Rifampicin is a semi synthetic compound obtained from Amycolatopsis rifamycinica. It is an effective broad-spectrum antibacterial antibiotic. Rifampicin can highly bind to DNA dependent RNA polymerase (RNAP) and inhibit the activity of RNAP, thus inhibiting the protein synthesis of host bacteria. Rifampicin can also be used to treat tuberculosis and effectively inhibit intracellular pathogens, such as Mycobacterium M. tuberculosis and M. leprae. To avoid drug tolerance, rifampicin should be used in combination with other antibiotics.
50 mg rifampicin can be dissolved in 1 mL DMSO to prepare a storage solution of 50 mg/mL. after sub packaging, it can be frozen at -20℃. When in use, it can be diluted to the working solution concentration with deionized water. The common working solution concentration is 10-50 ug/mL.
